Ogon Bat also known as “Golden Bat” is a character from Japan created in 1931 and considered the first Japanese super-hero. He first appeared in a lost art known as “kamishibai,” a live traveling show in which a storyteller carried around a small, portable stage and told tales with various cards of illustrations/paintings on the streets of Japan. Ogon Bat went on to become a manga, animated series and even a live action film featuring Sonny Chiba. I’ve always loved this character and his maniacal laugh, this is my contemporary take on him.
