This is a one-sheet (27" x41")  poster for the silent film serial "The Hand of Vengeance," distributed by Gaumont. The first episode featured in the poster is titled "The Sign of the Scar". 

The serial follows the story of a man who is left for dead in the desert by his partner and returns years later to seek his revenge. The production was released in the United States in the summer of 1917 and also circulated under the name Ultus, the Man from the Dead.
