66th Cannes Film Festival 2013 French Grande

This is a French Grande (47"x 63") official poster for the 2013, 66th Cannes Film Festival.

The festival chose this image to honor the "spirit of cinema" through a couple who embodied it like no other. The poster features a vintage 1963 photograph of iconic Hollywood couple Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward. The photo was taken during the production of their romantic comedy film, A New Kind of Love. The design captures the pair in an upside-down embrace, which reviewers at the time described as a "head-turning" and timeless tribute to their enduring love story.

Steven Spielberg headed the jury for this edition. The festival opened with the Hollywood premiere of Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby.

This poster continued a trend of featuring American movie stars, following Faye Dunaway (2011) and Marilyn Monroe (2012).
