Ashes of Hope 1917 Six-Sheet

This is a six-sheet (81" x81") poster for the 1917 American silent Western film titled Ashes of Hope.
Directed by Walter Edwards and starring Belle Bennett, who plays the lead role of Gonda, the "dance hall queen". Includes Jack Livingston as Jim Gordon and Jack Richardson as "Ace High" Lawton. Bennett was a major star of the silent era, perhaps best known for her iconic lead role in the original 1925 version of Stella Dallas.

Set in the Western mining settlement of Paluski, the story follows Jim Gordon, a stranger who avoids drinking and gambling. "Ace High" Lawton, a gambling proprietor in love with Gonda, makes a wager that she cannot seduce the stoic Gordon. The plot thickens when Gordon protects Gonda from a drunken miner, leading to a complex dynamic between the characters. The film's tagline, as seen on the poster, describes it as "The story of a woman side-tracked on the road to glory."

Like many silent-era films, Ashes of Hope is considered a lost film, meaning no complete prints are known to survive in any archives.
