The Snake Girl and the Silver-Haired Witch 1968 Japanese B0 Poster
This is a Japanese B0 Poster (40.6" x 57.3") for the 1968 Japanese horror film titled The Snake Girl and the Silver-Haired Witch (original Japanese title: Hebimusume to Hakuhatsumajyo). The film was directed by Noriaki Yuasa, who is best known for the Gamera series, and was produced by Daiei Studios. It is an adaptation of the horror manga Hebi Shōjo (also known as Reptilia) by the legendary artist Kazuo Umezu.
The story follows a young girl named Sayuri who leaves an orphanage to live with her birth family. She soon discovers terrifying secrets, including an amnesiac mother, a sister confined to the attic, and a mysterious silver-haired witch stalking the household. It is described as a gothic fairy tale or "tokusatsu terror tale" that blends surrealism, childhood fears, and traditional Japanese folklore about snake spirits. The film stars Yachie Matsui as Sayuri, along with Mayumi Takahashi and Yûko Hamada.
Shot in black and white, the film is noted for its dreamlike, psychedelic sequences and effective, though simple, special effects.
