Wolf Boy Ken 1964 Japanese B2 Poster
This is a 1964 Japanese B2 Poster (20.3" x 28.7") for the Japanese vintage anime series Wolf Boy Ken (Ōkami Shōnen Ken), which holds the distinction of being the first television anime series produced by Toei Animation (then known as Toei Doga).
The series aired from November 25, 1963, to August 16, 1965, on Japan's NET network (now TV Asahi). It was created by Sadao Tsukioka, who served as the character designer and primary director. Notable industry legends like Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki also worked on the series early in their careers; Miyazaki worked as an in-between artist, and Takahata directed several episodes.
Set in a jungle in the Himalayan Mountains, the story follows a young boy named Ken who was raised by wolves. Along with his young wolf companions, Chichi and Poppo, Ken works to protect the jungle and its animals from various threats.
"Pistol Sodo" (Pistol Uproar): Episode 13, where a gorilla finds a pistol in the forest and begins to bully other animals, leading Ken to find a way to take it away.
"Totem Pole no Majin" (The Demon of the Totem Pole): Episode 9, involving a legendary demon named Gandal who was turned into a totem pole by a hermit.
