Attack No.1 World Championship 1970 Japanese B2 Poster
This is a Japanese B2 Poster (20.3" x 28.7") for the 1970 Japanese anime film, Attack No. 1: World Championship(Japanese: Atakku No. 1: Namida no Sekai Senshuken), directed by Masaaki Ōsumi. Released on December 19, 1970, it is the third of four recap movies based on the popular volleyball TV series and manga created by Chikako Urano.
The movie covers the "World Championship Arc," where protagonist Kozue Ayuhara and her teammate Midori Hayakawa are selected for the Japanese national junior high team. After intense training in Japan, the team travels to New York City for the international tournament, facing teams from the United States, South Korea, and ultimately their strongest rivals, the Soviet Union.
Attack No. 1 was the first televised sports anime aimed at a female audience (shōjo) and had a significant impact on real-world sports interest in Japan and Europe.
NOTE: The bottom section of the poster also includes a tip on (glued) advertisement for Tiger Mask (Japanese: Taigā Masuku), another iconic sports anime about professional wrestling that was popular during the same era.
